Applications open for Ireland ‘s first Massive Online Open Course


The Institute of Technology Sligo will launch in September 2013, the first Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) of Ireland. [ ]IT Sligo is the recognised supplier of higher education in Ireland and it is engaged in making higher education accessible thanks to the use of technology.


Ireland’s first MOOC will be free and it will consist of six weekly lectures in Lean Sigma Quality, as well as extra learning resources that can be accessed online at any time.

The course will be delivered by Brian Coll and Dr John Donovan, academics from the institute’s School of Engineering & Design.

During the course, participants will be able to:

– have access to discussion areas asking question and getting support from classmates

– take regular quizzes to see how they are getting on and submit a final report that can be shared with classmates. If a minimum grade is reached in all the quizzes and final assignment, an electronic certificate will be awarded automatically that can be displayed online.
