Cities for Active Inclusion – national events

Cities for Active Inclusion is a partnership of nine European cities – Barcelona, Birmingham, Bologna, Brno, Copenhagen, Lille Métropole-Roubaix, Rotterdam, Sofia and Stockholm, each establishing a Local Authority Observatory (LAO) within its administration.

Their aim is to share information, promote mutual learning and carry out research on the implementation of the active inclusion strategies at the local level.

Cities for Active Inclusion partners will host eight national events between June and October 2013, bringing together local practitioners and policy makers to discuss the latest developments on active inclusion policies at EU level and present local initiatives to support active inclusion.

The partner cities will cover topics such as social innovation in active inclusion practices (Barcelona, 7 June), people at risk of poverty and exclusion (Brno, 19-20 June), Roma and the labour market (Sofia, 20-21 June), the Birmingham social inclusion process (Birmingham, 10 July),

poverty and disadvantage (Bologna, 17 September), social return on investment (Rotterdam, 19 September), the social economy (Copenhagen 27 September) and the long-term unemployed (Stockholm, 1 October).

Those wanting to attend one of these events should contact Susanna Forjan at

Cities for Active Inclusion is supported by the PROGRESS programme, as part of the framework partnership between the European Commission and EUROCITIES, the network of major European cities.
