12 July 2013: Conference “Georgia’s European Way”, in Batumi, Georgia

Štefan Füle, the European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy has taken part in the 10th International Conference “Georgia’s European Way: EU’s Eastern European partners – towards the Vilnius Summit” in Batumi today.

During the speech, the EU Commissioner referred to the Vilnius Summit as a landmark moment in the European Union’s relationship with Georgia, an historic moment that will cement Georgia’s place in a partnership of common values, common objectives and common policies and norms, an occasion in which all issues and achievements can be clarified.

Furthermore, he insisted that after last October elections, Georgia has continued in its previously defined pro-European, pro-democracy and pro-reform orientation and that the EU is carefully watching on how the legacies of the past and any past abuse are dealt with.
