European Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht: trade and investment relations with African countries

 

From 15 to 19 July 2013, with relation to the Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) between the EU, Eastern African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the EU Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht will be in Africa.

He will hold discussions with Trade Ministers from the four involved countries – Kenya, Namibia, Botswana and South Africa – on how to strengthen a comprehensive trade and investment relations with African countries.

 

The Sub-Saharan Africa is one of the fastest growing regions in the world, while the EU is the biggest market in the world. This should be viewed as a great opportunity to have a deeper dialogue for mutual interests, such as the multilateral trade talks. Commissioner De Gucht will also participate in the annual EU-South Africa Summit in Pretoria on 18 July 2013
