10 December 2013: Human Rights Day

Human Rights Day presents an opportunity, every year, to celebrate human rights, highlight a specific issue, and advocate for the full enjoyment of all human rights by everyone everywhere. As in 2013 the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights marks 20 years since its establishment, the theme for this year is “20 Years Working for Your Rights”.

The UN General Assembly proclaimed 10 December as Human Rights Day in 1950 to bring to the attention of the world the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as the common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations.
