International Day of Human Space Flight

12 April 2013: International Day of Human Space Flight

52 years ago Soviet citizen Yuri Gagarin opened the way for space exploration by taking the first human space flight.

Every year on 12 April this milestone is celebrated by observing the International Day of Human Space Flight, reaffirming the important contribution of space science and technology in achieving sustainable development goals and increasing the well-being of countries and peoples, as well as ensuring the realisation of their aspiration to maintain outer space for peaceful purposes.
