28-29 November 2013: Third Eastern Partnership Summit, Vilnius (Lithuania)
The third Eastern Partnership Summit will start today in Vilnius, Lithuania, bringing together heads of state and government from the 28 EU member states and from the Eastern Partner countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
The summit hosted by the President of Republic of Lithuania, Dalia Grybauskaite, will be chaired by the President of the European Council, Herman van Rompuy who, together with the President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso, will represent the European Union.
Through the Eastern Partnership, the EU strengthens its bilateral and multilateral cooperation with the six Eastern European partners: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, supports reform processes of these countries, and seeks to bring them closer to the EU.
