Unemployment, poverty and social inequality discussed at the Tripartite High Level meeting

The Tripartite Social Summit High Level meeting was held today in Brussels prior to the European Council.

It focused on the actions foreseen to strengthen the social dimension of the European Economic and Monetary Union (EMU), employment and social policy coordination and the inclusion of the social partners both at EU and at national level.

The meeting was jointly chaired by the President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė, as the leader of the Member state holding the Presidency, the European Council President Herman Van Rompuy, and the European Commission President José Manuel Barroso.
