1 December 2013 : World AIDS Day
World AIDS Day (WAD) is held on 1 December each year to raise awareness about the disease, demonstrate solidarity and reflect on progress in the response.
The theme for this WAD, and all others until 2015, is “Getting to Zero: zero new HIV infections, zero discrimination and zero AIDS-related deaths.”
The World Health Oorganisations’s (WHO) focus for the 2013 campaign is improving access to prevention, treatment and care services for adolescents (10-19 years), a group that continues to be vulnerable despite efforts so far. WHO will release new guidance for HIV testing and counselling and care for adolescents living with HIV on World AIDS Day 2013.
