On the 27th of March, 27 secondary school students from all over Europe received the “Juvenes Translatores” prize from the hands of Androulla Vassiliou, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth. The prize and trip to Brussels are rewards for having composed the best translation from each student’s country on the theme of volunteering.
The “Juvenes Translatores” translation contest is entirely coordinated by professional translators at the European Commission, thus guaranteeing the quality of the original texts and the competition’s assessment criteria. During the visit to Brussels, the winners will have the opportunity to see the working methods and IT facilities of Commission translators. The contest will be launched for the sixth time in November 2012. Schools can register from 1 September onwards.
