Youth policy symposium with Eastern European and Caucasus countries
On 13-14 November 2013 policy-makers, researchers, youth workers, representatives of youth organisations and young people from the Eastern Partnership countries, the Russian Federation, Member States of the Council of Europe and the EU, representatives of the Eastern Partnership Youth Regional Unit of UNESCO and UNFDPA gathered in Yerevan (Armenia) to better understand and promote the role of youth work in education for democratic citizenship and participation.
Participants underlined the need for raising awareness and understanding of youth work and youth participation in the region, their recognition, quality and innovation, but also an enhanced outreach to the local and regional level. They also emphasised the need for improving face-to-face and virtual communication between the different actors in the youth field through the development of adequate and sustainable tools.
The symposium was organised by the EU-Council of Europe youth partnership, in cooperation with the Armenian Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs and SALTO Resource Centre for Eastern Europe and Caucasus.
